MODEL 4574 1964 (Date/Model estimate based on the Serial Number):

Here’s another example of the early Sarcofagus Guitars I have had. I bought this semi acoustic Hofner guitar in Mid 70‘s. The guitar was then decorated in Egyptian theme by the artist who painted the first two 1980 Sarcofagus Album Covers (Cycle of Life & Envoy of Death).

I used the guitar in the early years of Sarcofagus and after that it has been hanging on the wall as a very nice decorative piece. The guitar has been modified back in the day. The switches on the guitar don’t do a thing. I think the guitar had some additional electronics (compressor/distortion) build into it as that was my thing in those days.

Despite being 47 years old the guitar is playable! The neck pickup (not original but early 70’s humbucker) is connected to the output jack through volume pot.

The early days of Sarcofagus were quite well documented in pictures and even on video - yet mysteriously this guitar only appears in one press picture for the “Live In Studio 1979” recording. This infrared picture has the original band line up and was taken in a cemetery.

All in all it is a cool looking old guitar! Enjoy the pictures :)
